University Research
The primary mission of the Questuary is to serve San Francisco State University research and education. The Questuary is available for charter by SFSU faculty, staff and students at a discounted rate. The rate includes meeting your scientific party and a chosen point of contact, up to ten hours of of operating time ("dock to dock"), fuel, scientific sampling equipment and support personnel (vessel captain and marine technician). To charter the Questuary for university research, please view the vessel calendar to confirm boat availability and submit a vessel request using our online form. If you are faculty or student interested in chartering the Questuary for un-funded research there are options for you to use the vessel and have daily fees substantially reduced or waived. To do so, please contact the Marine Superintendent at Romberg Tiburon Center and describe the research you propose and your specific needs for the vessel. Your request will be forwarded for review to the RTC Director.

Education and Outreach
The Questuary plays a vital role in the environmental community by offering an ideal platform to conduct educational and outreach cruises throughout San Francisco Bay. Typically, an education and outreach cruise will accommodate 6-10 students, last between 2-6 hours, depart from a location that is easily accessible by your group and present subject material that is specific to your audience's age and educational needs.
The vessel can be fitted with a diverse suite of oceanographic sampling equipment including compound and dissecting microscopes, microscope video camera and monitor and other instructional material to assist you. The vessel is available at a discounted rate for education and outreach to all faculty, staff and students. We also work with non-profit organizations, museums, outreach and learning centers to provide the vessel at a rate consistent with your budget. Scientific Charter
The Questuary is available to private companies, institutions and other organizations conducting scientific research on San Francisco Bay. To qualify, your charter must be for research or data collection purposes that further scientific knowledge. Recreation and leisure activities not related to science are not conducted on the Questuary.
